Below you'll find some of the books that touched my heart & mind the most. They've definitely changed the way I perceive Life, and sometimes even helped me make practical long-lasting changes in my life.
I hope you'll enjoy this list and maybe pick some of these books to read. If you do, or even if you've already read some of them, I'd love to hear you thoughts about them. Comment below to let me know if you've enjoyed them as much as I did!
You Can Heal Your Life
It is Louise Hay's "the queen of affirmations" classical book. It is always great to re-read a chapter once in a while. It is full of practical healing exercises and emotional truths. My favorite part is probably the begining when she explains her philosophy & what she believes in. A very empowering book that gives you tools for deep emotional healing.
All is Well
This book is litterally a google translator from your body symptons to your body's real message. The book starts with a questionnaire about the state of your health, and is then divided in chapters that each regroup specific body parts & health issues with their corresponding emotional meaning. Let's take chapter 6 for example; in terms of health it is about the digestive system, the adrenal glands, the pancreas, weight and addictions; in terms of emotions it is about how these relate to self-perception and the individual's responsibilities towards others.
While each chapter is full of precious information & a case study my favorite part of the book remains the table at the end. It is very concise, clear and I can refer to it anytime. The table is divided in three parts 1) your symptom / illness, 2) the emotional meaning, 3) a healing positive affirmation. Whenever I've got something bothering me healthwise (headache, toothache, got a small cut, etc) I just look it up, and so far it has always been surprisingly accurate.
I love Rhonda Byrne's movie 'The Secret. I think it complements Louise Hay quite well: Louise is more focused on the emotional aspect of life, while Rhonda is more focused on material aspect of life. Although the Secret has been a great success, and a life changer for me and so many others, my favorite book of her is The Power. I love to listen to the audio book as it always cheers me up and helps me focus on love and gratitude. Yes, the book is all about the power of love, in a broad sense. If you've been feeling a little low and need some motivation, go listen to it, it will definitely raise your vibes!
Life is magical and this book consists of exercises to remind you so on a daily basis. Each one of its 28 chapters consits of a text to remind you of the magic of life as well as an exercise to make you feel gratitude in every aspect of your life, from relationships to finances. Ideally you would do an exercise (chapter) per day... Personally I usually do it a few times a week, or a few times a month, or choose a specific chapter if there is a particular area of my life that I want to improve.
This is Anthony William's first book, where he explains about his personal story. He is accompanied by a Spirit who gives him guidance on how to help people heal, essentially through better food choices. Spirit, as he calls him, also gives him medical information ahead of our time and that doctors and scientists have not discovered yet. Whether you believe it or not is up to you. Personally what he says and his advice resonate with me and feel like the truth.
In this book he explains commons misconceptions and misdiagnosis behind mystery illnesses and give guidelines for a 28-day cleanse. You can adapt the cleanse to what feels doable for you, a little improvement is always better than nothing. This book was really eye-opening for me, especially as I read it right around the time I started being vegan it contributed to increase my knowledge about healthy foods.
Life Changing Foods
I keep this book in my kitchen and use it to get inspiration for healthy recipes or to look up which fruit, vegetable or herb is best if something is bothering healthwise. Each chapter is devoted to a food, explaining its health benefits, emotional message and featuring a recipe.I love this book and find it super practical.
Journey of Souls
Michael Newton was a hypnotherapist that helped his patients into past-life regressions in order to understand and present life issues. Through these 'astral travels' he discovered so much about life after death and life in between lives. I already believed in reincarnation before reading his books, but was fascinated by this wealth of new information and this unusual perspective. Although I don't agree with all that he says, as I feel interpreting the afterlife with our human brain is probably quite limiting, I still believing this book can totally change and broaden your perspective about life on earth.
Destiny of Souls
While the previous book outlines general features of life, death and reincarnation; this second book contains more details about what goes on in between lives. I would recommend to read both, in chronological order as it seems to make more sense to me.
Dr. Eben Alexander
Proof of Heaven
Continuing with the theme of life after death, this book is actually the one that really made me believe in the afterlife. The author is a neurosurgeon who had a near death experience and tells his adventure in heaven. Although he was very skeptical before his experience, when he 'came back' and checked all of his medical records his former beliefs were shattered. This book is a beautiful spiritual adventure.
The 5 Love Languages
In terms of relationships - whether romantic or not - this book was revolutionary for me. It lays down the concept that there are 5 predominant ways to express and receive love, and some people are more receptive to one way than another. Just like if you are expressing love in Chinese to someone who doesn't speak the language they won't get it, if you express your love to someone through gifts when what they value is compliments, they won't get it either. The book details each main love language and how to identify it in individuals.
Another interesting element the book highlights is that we all have a 'love container' that gets filled in by using the above mentioned languages. If our 'love container' is running low in a specific relationship, it is probably not going well. Then it's the right time to identify the other person's love language and start filling their container in order to improve the relationship. I've definitely used this knowledge in my relationships and saw great improvements!
The 5 Languages of Apololgy
Just as there are 5 predominant ways to express love, there are 5 ways to express an apology. As not everyone expresses and receives apology in the same way this book covers the 5 main 'apology types' so that you can identify the 'apology type' of people close to you, and in case you don't know someone's type, make sure you make an apology that encompasses all types, to make sure the person receives your intention. I find it useful for any kind of relationship: romantic partners, family, friends, co-workers, customers, etc.
